Fun for the whole family!

09 Jan 2024

There’s over 430 hectares of open space within Sydney Olympic Park, giving the kids plenty of space to run wild during the school holidays! We’ve put together a list of our favourite playgrounds at the Park for you to visit.

Open: Daily, Sunrise to Sunset
Location: Jamieson Street, Sydney Olympic Park

It’s the place to be these school holidays, featuring a giant playground for the kids, spanning over three hectares! Located next to the Parramatta River, this children’s paradise includes a double flying fox, tunnel slides, a multi-level tree house and the largest outdoor water play area (operating between 10 am to 4 pm) – perfect for kids big and small! Bring the whole family along and enjoy a leisurely walking along the river, or explore the heritage Newington Armory before getting together for a picnic at one of the free barbeque areas.

Bicentennial Park

Open: Daily, Sunrise to Sunset

We may have cheated a little here as there’s 3 playgrounds in Bicentennial Park – the BiPark West Playspace, Concord West Playground and Village Green Playground – but we couldn’t choose between them!

BiPark West Playspace

Playground equipment, shade structures and seating.

Having recently opened in 2022, this play area was built with accessibility and thermal comfort in mind. The design allows children of all abilities to navigate between the different play pods and enjoy several types of swings including those that offer extra spinal support. There’s also a central merry-go round that is recessed to allow flush access for wheelchair users.

Plus, the 100m long perimeter seating wall is shaded by large scale Fig and Ornamental Pear trees to help cool the area and provide shade for the kids on those sunny days. Don’t forget to bring your dog with you, as there’s an enclosed off leash dog park right next door.

Concord West Playground

Discover this semi-shaded play space hidden behind the Treillage Tower. With a bike riding track, basketball hoop, and fully equipped playground including swings, play gyms, slides, and monkey bars – it’s a fun space for kids of all ages.

Village Green Playground

Many people playing on and around a rope climbing structure and sand pit.

In the heart of Bicentennial Park, you’ll find the Village Green where the kids can explore the playground while you relax under the trees or at the picnic tables. Built for kids of all ages there are swings, a pretend shop, see-saws, a climbing gym for toddlers with a small slide, and a higher climbing gym with larger slides and a suspension bridge for the adventurous kids.

From here, you can also take a short stroll to visit the wonderful Lake Belvedere.

Splasher’s Playground

A water playground with slides, fountains, and pools.

Open: Daily, 10am – 7pm
Location: Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre

Head over to the Aquatic Centre to cool off inside and let the kids enjoy a dip in the water at the Splasher’s Playground.

This fun and interactive indoor playground is suitable for toddlers to tweens with child friendly water slides, and a gigantic bucket that fills with water to splash the swimmers in the pool below. The Rapid River Ride is sure to keep the older kids amused as they swim through the rushing water whirlpool with their friends!

Entry to the Splasher’s Playground is included in the pool admission fee, so you can have a swim in the many pools available.
