Pattern Book Design Competition 2024

We are excited to see the shortlisted candidates for Stage 2 of the NSW Housing Pattern Book International Design Competition announced.

The competition has attracted over 200 entries from architects, designers and students from across the world to develop bold and creative designs to help shape the future of housing in NSW.

Sydney Olympic Park has long been a space for innovation, and we are proud to be amongst the selected NSW Government owned sites to bring the winning designs to life. The pre-approved designs for Mid Rise apartments will allow developers to fast track the planning process and begin construction faster, contributing to the delivery of more housing in the suburb as part of our Master Plan 2050.

The exceptional teams to submit their designs for Sydney Olympic Park are Angelo Candalepas and Associates, Partners Hill and Spacecraft Architects (New Zealand).

We’re looking forward to the start of the competition this month and are eager to see the winning designs announced in November.

The Pattern Book Design Competition calls for bold and innovative ideas for terrace houses and mid-rise apartment buildings for the 21st century.

Selected competition winners in the professional category will have the opportunity to have their designs brought to life and built on a selection of government owned sites.

The competition is led by Government Architect NSW and aims to engage the best architectural minds to develop housing ideas to support more diverse housing choice and help fill the gap between detached homes and high-rise apartment buildings.
