A new parking model to enhance visitor experience

Sydney Olympic Park Authority is set to introduce new and improved parking conditions across its parkland areas, effective February 2025. These changes are designed to make parking more accessible, convenient, and fair for all visitors.

Key parking changes

The key change is the introduction of metered parking that allows two hours free parking per day across all parkland areas followed by a modest hourly rate that can allow customers to stay for extended periods, beyond the current time limits that apply to some areas. This change applies to Bicentennial Park, Blaxland Riverside Park, and Parklands Junction (P5) as stage 1 and will be implemented in other areas over time.

Parking rates

Weekdays: 2 hours free, then $3 per hour

Weekends and Public Holidays: 2 hours free, then $5 per hour

Note: The above rates will not apply to P5 on major event days. Visitors to P5 should check the signs. Where the boom gate is in operation, this indicates a major event flat rate.

In addition, Sydney Olympic Park Authority have committed to affordable parking rates in line with short stay parking rates in nearby Parramatta Park and significantly lower rates than most coastal parking in Sydney.

Why these changes?

The new parking conditions have been introduced in response to community and stakeholder feedback, which highlighted:

  • Difficulties accessing parking, especially on weekends and holidays
  •  A need for better parking compliance
  • A desire for increased parking availability
  • The opportunity to leverage improved technology

These changes will also create uniform parking conditions across parkland areas.

Convenient, cashless parking

The new system capitalises on the convenience of cashless payment systems and will use the Pay and Stay app available on Android and iOS. This allows visitors to top up parking with just a few taps on their mobile.

Getting around

Visitors can also explore the Park via extensive walking and cycling paths, providing alternative and environmentally friendly ways to access the parklands. For more information, see our parking FAQs.
